Antenatal Share Care involves having your pregnancy care, “shared” between a G.P. at this practice, and doctors, specialists and midwives at Wollongong Hospital.

You are expected to visit your G.P. monthly up until 28 weeks, or sooner if necessary. Then fortnightly until 36 weeks pregnant.

Visits with the staff at the hospital clinic will be at 12 weeks, 30 weeks, 37 weeks and onwards.

The advantages of choosing shared care are:

•  Flexible appointments with the G.P. and less waiting times

•  Continuity of care with personalised service

•  Less visits to the hospital clinic

•  Building a relationship with your doctor to provide ongoing care for you and your baby following the birth. eg 6 week baby check and immunisations

As soon as you think you may be pregnant, visit one of our “shared care” doctors. They will organise routine blood tests and answer any questions. You need to make your first appointment at the hospital outpatient's clinic when you are approximately 12 weeks pregnant.

We have 10 male and female doctors that have done additional training to provide antenatal care. If you are pregnant please inform the staff that you require a “shared care doctor” or if you prefer, you may ring prior, and receive a list of their names.

If you would like more information about the shared care programme or to make an appointment, contact the Antenatal Clinic on 4253-4256
